Motorcycling in the Santa Rita OHV Area, located roughly 20 miles south of Tucson, offers a rugged desert and mountain experience characterized by rocky trails, sand washes, and sweeping views of the Santa Rita Mountains.
The Santa Rita Mountains are the fourth highest of the sky island mountain ranges in southeastern Arizona and they rise nearly 6,000 feet above the desert floor. They are extremely rugged with steep slopes, sharp peaks, and narrow ridges.
The Santa Rita OHV Area primarily consists of a network of chunky 4×4 roads and rocky jeep trails rather than dedicated singletrack for motorcycles. Riders should expect loose dirt, sand in washes, and some steep, technically challenging sections. Many roads are shared with ranching operations and active mining exploration; stay on designated routes and leave all gates as you found them.
There are many additional possibilities for riding on the network of OHV roads in this area.
