Bisbee – Douglas Border Wall Loop

This is your chance to ride along the historic (and controversial) US/Mexico border wall. This steel wall rises to a height of 30 feet. Much of this section of border wall was constructed recently. Don’t be surprised if you see US Customs and Border Protection as they actively patrol this area in search of illegal immigrants and drug traffickers.

Directions

Please note that sections of this ride along the border wall can be closed unexpectedly due to construction or other activities.

Leave Old Bisbee and head east on US 80 past the Lavender Pit into the Warren District of Bisbee. Stop at Warren Peace Cafe for a coffee and visit the historic Warren Ballpark, one of the oldest continuously operating baseball fields in the USA.

Leave Warren on South Arizona Street and ride south past the Bisbee Municipal Airport to Bisbee Junction. Turn left on South Bisbee Junction Road and another left on East Border Road. Follow East Border Road along the US/Mexico border wall to the east towards Douglas, AZ. Follow the border wall as long as the road remains open. If the road is closed there will usually be signage directing you back to US 80 to the north.

Arrive in Douglas, AZ which is located on the border directly next to Agua Prieta, Mexico – a much larger city. Stop at the historic Gadsden Hotel and admire their fantastic lobby. If the restaurant and cafe is open you might have some refreshments before returning to Bisbee on pavement via US 80.
