I’m Back and Heading to Canada

After three weeks filming the new Oregon Backcountry Discovery Route I’m heading to Canada to continue Riding Solo. In this episode I ride up Hurricane Ridge to Obstruction Point and camp with Alpacas in Port Angeles, Washington.

Hurricane Ridge Road

Hurricane Ridge Road climbs its way into the Olympic Mountains in Washington State. The road is steep with a few tunnels. It ends at the Hurricane Hill Trailhead parking lot. I continue on the dirt road to Obstruction Point.

Obstruction Point

An eight mile gravel road leads further into the mountains and Obstruction Point.

Incredible Mountain Views

The road provides incredible scenic views and I can see the snow covered mountains in the distance.

Bear Pictures

There was a small traffic jam on the way down, people taking pictures of a bear on the side of the road.

Olympic Peninsula Alpaca Rescue

Olympic Peninsula Alpaca Rescue is a 21 acre farm that also operated as a campground during my visit.

Camping with Alpacas

I pitched my tent in the field with the Alpacas and other animals that are free to wander around the farm.

Bring Apples

I was told to bring some apples, which the Alpacas like to eat.
